DRONE SURVEYING REALITY SHOW
Creating Topos through conventional surveying takes time, manpower and added costs. That’s why MP Design Group, a full service design firm based in Biloxi, Mississippi, decided to invest in drone LiDAR to expedite the process, complete more jobs, and increase efficiencies for their customers.
Their next project takes place at an abandoned golf course, where they need to provide their customer with a topographic survey to complete a feasibility study for residential development. By using drone technology, what normally might take a week, they hope to finish in a day, so they can knock out an additional topo job nearby. But the weather forecast calls for thunderstorms and high winds, two ingredients that don’t mix well with drone surveying. They’ll also have to contend with Class D Airspace due to the proximity of the Keesler Air Force Base.
Will a weather window open so they can fly both jobs, collect the data, and create the topographic surveys? Find out in these episodes of Down to Earth: LiDAR for the Course.WATCH FULL EPISODE
